What does a day in the life look like for the person who joins the business?

You'll be working in an energetic, fast paced environment where there will be new opportunities to learn and grow as well as things that you can bring your skills and experience to bear. Where we differ from other organisations is our entrepreneurial culture, focused on delivering more than just technical advice - we're constantly looking for new ways to create value for clients above and beyond our closest competitors. That's pretty exciting.

What has been the trickiest conversation you’ve had with a client?

Our day-to-day roles can often involve dealing with complicated situations and complex data. To pick out one specific example is tricky. The good news is that you have a team around you to provide support and information to ensure we deliver the best outcomes for clients, even when it's considered to be a tricky situation.

How would you explain insurance in three sentences?

In a nutshell, insurance provides you with protection against an event or possible outcome that may affect you and your business. Risks are all around us, so our role as an insurance broker, is to become a trusted advisor to our clients to help them understand those risks and provide adequate protection should they happen. One way we describe our role is as helping businesses and our clients to keep progressing when the unexpected happens.

What is one word that you would use to describe your team?

Dedicated.

What's one thing that's key to this company's success that somebody from outside the company wouldn't know about?

Teamwork. Plain and simple.

How would you prepare a new starter for their first meeting with Pat Gallagher?

First of all, we would remind them that they are an important part of our team and that Pat is an approachable and friendly leader in our business. Second, that we have an transparent and honest culture where information can be shared in openly and candidly, in the appropriate format. Last, but not least, we'd recommend being curious and eager to understand from Pat's perspective what makes Gallagher the best choice for clients in the market. After all, that's a key part of the story we share with clients and colleagues inside the business.
